2 Poland Local Schools officials heading to Boardman

(Contributed photos) BOARDMAN The Boardman Local School Board voted unanimously Monday night to hire two officials who are coming from Poland Local Schools. Mark Zura, who serves as director of Student Services in the Poland Local School District, will be the new principal at Boardman High School. Mike Masucci, principal at Poland Union Elementary School, will be the new principal at Boardman Center Intermediate School. Zura has more than 20 years of educational experience, half of which was spent at Boardman. He will replace Principal Cindy Fernback, who is retiring effective June 30 after 32 years in Boardman Local Schools. Zura’s three-year contract begins July 1.

Breakfast of champs | News, Sports, Jobs

Boardman High School senior Ethan Anderson, 18, chooses his breakfast Monday for the school’s annual Scholar’s Breakfast. Each year high school students with at least a 3.5 grade-point average meet for the breakfast. This year the event will be spread out through the week for each grade. Board members, principals from schools in the district and others helped serve. BOARDMAN As he made his way through the breakfast line, 18-year-old Ethan Anderson was greeted by district administration and personnel, eagerly congratulating him on a job well done. He’s one of about 100 seniors at Boardman High School to participate in the school’s annual Scholar’s Breakfast for achieving a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. In Anderson’s case, he has earned a 4.0 GPA since middle school.
