Council leader's Christmas message: Stay home to ensure 'we beat this pandemic'


THE Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council has urged people to stay at home this Christmas to ensure ‘we beat this pandemic’.
Councillor David Simpson, in his 90th update to the county, said that we need to save lives to protect the NHS and also ensure that we do not pass Covid to our families.
Cllr Simpson said: “Welcome to my weekly update, a little earlier than usual as I think we will all be a little busy this Friday.

AN INSPIRING coffee and psychology enthusiast living in Penarth has shared how he traded a safe day job at the start of lockdown to take his message of community to the people of the town.

I grew up in a street like Corrie, two up, two down, no bathroom and a toilet in the backyard.
I recognised my large extended family in the Street’s characters, especially my forceful aunties who worked at C&A, selling smart coats and dresses to women like themselves, ordinary but aspirational, and determined to be well-dressed.
My mum was fearsomely stylish and toughly ambitious for her children. Like Ken Barlow, William Roache, below, my brothers and I were the first in our family history to go to university.
For mum and my aunties, being smartly-dressed was an absolute must, and led to some comical sights.
