crash at a bay area air show. the pilot well known in the circuit killed while performing in front of thousands. the crash happened at travis air force base in fairfield about 2:00 this afternoon. nbc bay area s annette miranda live at the base right now. annette? reporter: eddie andrini was a bit of a local celebrity in the flying industry. the international council of air shows inducted him into its hall of fame last year. but something happened during today s low-flying air battic maneuver. we re astonished. how did this happen? reporter: amateur video captures the smokey aftermath of the fatal plane crash of a vintage biplane. an abrupt end to the thunder over solano air show. it s really tragic way to end the show. he was doing great up until that point. i know he s been doing it for years. it was a big shock. reporter: the pilot killed was 77-year-old eddie andrini of half moon bay. he s been flying since he was 16 and an air show stunt pilot for 25 year ....
