Korean writer Han Kang's latest novel "I Do Not Bid Farewell" has won a French literary award, the Literature Translation Institute of Korea said Friday. The novel took home the Emile Guimet Prize for Asian Literature for her "restrained expression and the universality of its themes,” the award's organizer said Friday (French time). The French was translated by Choi Kyung-ran and Pierre.
Han Kang’s “I Do Not Bid Farewell” and Ma Yeong-shin’s “Moms” have been shortlisted for the Emile Guimet Prize for Asian Literature in France, according to the Literature Translation Institute of Korea.
From a novel depicting Jeju Island’s 1948 massacres to a gripping horror thriller webtoon, a string of translated Korean literary works continued to garner global recognition this year, securing wins and nominations for reputable prize-giving organizations.

Italian designer Giulio Cappellini unveiled the design trends for the post-coronavirus pandemic world during the fifth Italian Design Day events in Seoul on July 21 and 22, centering on new materials and projects that integrate the concept of beauty with the values of sustainability and the environment.
Italian Design Day, established in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, promotes Italian expertise in this sector, creating connections with the design scenes of the selected countries involved, including Korea.

The Order of merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI) was first established in 1951. Taking the form of the order presented by the president of Italy to individuals who have merit in each field, the medal used to be in the shape of a crown, but it has been in the shape of a star since 2001.
The Stella d Italia award consists of special grade for a Knight of Grand Cross decorated with a grand cordon; first grade for a Knight of the Grand Cross; second grade for a Grand Officer; third grade for a Commander; fourth grade for an Official; and fifth grade for a Knight.
