A paddleboarder who was pronounced dead after he was found in the ocean off Kihei on Thursday was identified by police as Chima Edwin Njaka, 57, of San Jose, Calif.
He was found floating facedown about 100 yards offshore from Kauhale Makai after fire crews responded to a 1:05 p.m. call reporting a missing paddleboarder and unattended paddleboard near Kalepolepo Park, according to the Maui Fire Department.
