Biden administrations plan to spend tens of millions of dollars on temporary housing for migrant families. Earlier this month, h. H. S. Green lit an 87 Million Contract for a nonprofit to place 1200 migrant families in hotels. As our Border Facilities continue to overcrowd. Now, no one argues that we need to get families out of these cramped shelters, but the price tag is raising eyebrows. Broken down per person the program would spend 71,000 to house each migrant or 284,000 per family of four. I came to congress in 1989, one of just 31 women in the house and senate and to this committee in 1993 alongside only six other women under the 64member panel. This body is better for the 100 women serving in the 116th congress and for the many women in the room today. Its my honor to address the full committee for my final time as the first woman chair.
