occupations or ad hoc invasions that don t seem to be part of any kind of broader strategy. i think because we as a country are not willing to embrace the idea of imperialism or that we are going to occupy these countries and tell them what to do, and that all fine. i m not in favor of imperialism or of going back to the british control of the world, but i m saying what we re doing also doesn t make much sense because we go into these countries, we start a war, we invade, and then we don t really follow up with much of a political governance piece of that. most recently you saw that in libya and syria, where we have had air campaigns but and we helped overthrow gadhafi but then we didn t do anything to resolve the fundamental political structure, and in syria it s so screwed up now it s hard to tell what policy we have. and in iraq, we invaded and then allowed the shia to dominate the government. so, i m not suggesting that we open a colonial office like the british d ....
