A Wichita man was arrested Monday afternoon in Reno County on suspicion of attempted murder and kidnapping in connection with a domestic violence incident that resulted in the shooting of a 2-year-old child. According to a release from the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as Kamden Joe Campos, was involved in the dispute with the woman and brought her to a dead-end road near Yoder Road and Sun City Road at Cheney Lake. There, authorities said, Campos took the woman to the edge of the water “with intent to harm her,” but he was momentarily distracted, and the woman was able to jump in the car and flee the scene.
