She was given credit for the 461 days she has spent in jail since her arrest in Rochester in February of last year. Olinger was originally charged with second and third-degree murder in connection with the death of her 16-month-old son. Following the child s transfer to Rochester from the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato, doctors were not able to detect any signs of brain activity and an autopsy blamed his death on multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

(KEYC) A Mankato woman pleaded guilty Monday to the death of her 16-month-old son. Chelsea Rae Olinger, 28, entered a guilty plea on charges of first-degree manslaughter. She was also charged with second and third-degree murder, first-degree assault and malicious punishment of a child. Olinger was arrested in February 2020 after she brought her child to the hospital in Mankato. The boy was then transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester with a brain injury, compression fractures of two vertebrae, seven broken ribs, a laceration of the liver, and numerous bruises.

His Mayo Clinic doctors were not able to detect any signs of brain activity and the toddler died several days later. An autopsy blamed the little boy s death on multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
