MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Mankato Police have arrested a 51-year-old woman following an incident that ended with the alleged assault of an officer.
Authorities say Raquel Navarro was under the influence of drugs or alcohol in public and was taken to the hospital. She was then transported to the Blue Earth County Jail where authorities say the situation escalated.
“When she went to the jail, it looks like they must have assaulted officers and jail staff. It looks like she is being charged with fourth-degree assault, obstruction with force, fleeing police on foot, trespassing, and crimes against the railroad,” says Dan Schisel, Associate Director of Mankato Public Safety.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) A Mankato man was arrested Wednesday on charges of third-degree murder.
Authorities report that agents with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force arrested 21-year-old Max Leo Miller, of Mankato, for third-degree murder. Miller was arrested as part of the investigation into the February overdose death of 21-year-old Travis Gustavson, also of Mankato.
On Feb. 24, Mankato Department of Public Safety officers and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service were called to the home of Travis Gustavson after a family member found him unresponsive. First responders were unable to revive Gustavson.

MANKATO, Minn. – A murder charge is pending after a drug overdose death in Blue Earth County.
Mankato police and Mayo Ambulance were called to the home of Travis Gustavson, 21, on February 24. Authorities say Gustavson was found unconscious by a family member and first responders could not revive him. The cause of Gustavson’s death was suspected to be a drug overdose and an investigation was launched.
Investigators say they found residue in Gustavson’s home that tested positive for heroin and fentanyl and messages and photographs exchanged between Gustavson and Max Leo Miller, 21 of Mankato, related to the sale of illegal drugs.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) A Mankato woman pleaded guilty Monday to the death of her 16-month-old son.
Chelsea Rae Olinger, 28, entered a guilty plea on charges of first-degree manslaughter. She was also charged with second and third-degree murder, first-degree assault and malicious punishment of a child.
Olinger was arrested in February 2020 after she brought her child to the hospital in Mankato. The boy was then transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester with a brain injury, compression fractures of two vertebrae, seven broken ribs, a laceration of the liver, and numerous bruises.

MANKATO, Minn. – A southern Minnesota woman has entered an Alford plea in the death of her 16-month-old son.
Chelsea Rae Olinger, 28 of Mankato, had been charged with 2nd and 3rd degree murder, 1st degree assault, and malicious punishment of a child. She entered the Alford plea Monday to 1st degree manslaughter and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 18 in Blue Earth County District Court. An Alford plea means Olinger is not admitting guilt but concedes she could be convicted at trial and will accept sentencing.
