(AP Photo/Angie Wang) Some Clark County vaccination locations have begun offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to those ages 12 to 15 after an independent committee of experts advising the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention met Wednesday and voted to recommend the vaccine for children. The Food and Drug Administration gave emergency authorization for use of the Pfizer vaccine in 12- to 15-year-olds on Monday. The decision is expected to cover an estimated 378,000 minors in Washington, and about 17 million minors nationwide.

A data analysis provided to The Columbian Tuesday night made the disparity public and has since put pressure on Gov. Jay Inslee and the state Department of Health to make up for it.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is expecting to receive several thousand doses of the vaccine as early as Tuesday. The plan is to start injecting front-line staff at the hospital as early as Wednesday.
