we are going to hopefully move pretty quickly through opening statements because we re going to be called to the floor before too long for a long series of votes, and i really want to hear our witnesses. you know, the american people often skeptical of what is dash of what this government do for them, and i am just, i feel so proud and so lucky to be on the subcommittee because the kinds of things were talking about today are about saving lives. we re actually going to make a difference in the lives of every day americans. i appreciate so much our witnesses for being here today. we re going to consider seven bills that a protecting consumers, and yes, saving lives. this subcommittees vice chair, for example, tony cárdenas, introduced the safe sleep act of 2019 which would ban inclined sleep products. you know, i wrote to the chairman of the consumer products safety commission, chairman burkle, and people asking to recall this rock and play which gracefully she did. but there
states have a good offensive policy. i think it was admiral rogers not that long ago within the last few months said just as much as that, that we don t have a good cyber offensive policy. we talked about it ed a inad infinitum in classified settings for the entire 10 years i was on the intelligence community. we could never get consensus to move to the next place what that cyber offensive is. as a personal note i saw the administration say they will make china pay for the consequence of the opm hack. i can t wait. i cannot wait to see what the heck that thing is. candidly, i m not too excited about what s going to be. we haven t crossed that threshold to bring everybody in this room to deal with this problem. long answer to your question i don t believe they can go extra territorial to what they perceive is a threat at that point. thank you so much. thank you if we can give a hand to the speaks. you can see how we can take many hours talking about that. we will roll into t

credibility and accountability and will tip to do so. do you have another question. i m going to make a quick note on that. and see if dan agrees. afghanistan is going from a fairly corrupt patronage system to a system which will be professional, transparent and noncorrupt. that is a long hard road to travel. and if president ghani moves too fast he will break his politics. and he will cause so many groups to be disgruntled with him and organize against him. so we have to be patient and recognize that this kind of transition is very difficult. he s got to be on that road he has to be convincing of the afghan people, but we have to give him a little slack. because if he moves too fast and breaks his politics and we lose the government, then we lose the possibility of moving to a professional, transparent and nonrupt system and go back to the old afghanistan and that is not good for anybody. sorry. and i absolutely concur with that. and i guess finally the last question on
