Charter schools as Public Schools. The difference between the autonomy and the ability to make different kinds of decisions as an operating charter versus the systems that we are trying to build as a district are very different. I am deeply invested as a School Board Member in the entire Bay View Community and what is happening in all of our schools. Over the last several years we made deep investments in our schools that are in bay view in particular. We have focus a lot of energy and resources in providing support to africanamerican students and the incrementals. There has been some progress made. Absolutely not enough. I think we see that over and over again across the country, and i feel like i am in a place where my commitment to the investment that we have made in the bay view schools is critical. Where my commitment to the investment that we have made in the bay view schools is critical. I need to stick to that commitment that we have made and the resources that we are pouring into the schools to ensure that our students and their families and the teachers that are committed to those students and families in the bay view are well supported. As difficult as this is just in terms of the support i have provided to kipp over many years, i am not able to such port new school at this time. I just think that we need to continue to provide the support that we have been giving to our students. I it is in a very unique position in terms of ensuring the city provides the support our families reserve and they get through the city services. My commitment lies there. Lady lost her life today. Things like this shouldnt happen. My heart bleeds for the family, the kids that go to this school and the administrators and our city. Ems and Emergency Responders frank particularly tried to resuscitate the victim and she was airlifted to the hospital where she later died. Kayla wilson says she was in a stall when a fight broke out inside of a bathroom. She was fighting the girls and all of these girls started banking her. What . Banking her jumping her. That is when she hit her head on the sink. School was dismissed later and parents and guardians rushed to the scene. Many were not aware of the severity of the situation.
