good evening. i m anderson cooper along with my colleague jake tapper in washington for a special two-hour 360, looking at what was a truly extraordinary day of witness testimony and stunning new details revealed during the january 6th committee hearings. former top officials at the justice department offering details, sometimes moment by moment descriptions of private phone calls and meetings demonstrating how the former president personally and continually tried to convince them to support his fraudulent claims about a stolen election. part of today s hearing focused on someone whose home was actually raided by federal investigators yesterday, former justice department official named jeffrey clark. we re going to have more on that raid in just a moment. the committee s interest about clark has to do with the former president s effort to install clark as acting attorney general so that clark could use the levers of the justice department to subvert joe biden s victory in t
just it s a tense moment. we re on the outside of the main protest here. as you can see, there is a small group of people protesting who are in support of the supreme court decision. and what we re seeing is really a conversation, passionate conversations taking place. both sides arguing, and, in fact, there was a larger group out here getting in an argument a few minutes ago at one point someone swiped a megaphone from the other crowd and they were given a verbal warning from the d.c. metropolitan police who moved in some other police forces just to protect this area over here, but i want to give you a sense of the broader flavor certainly as these sorts of conversations are playing out not only here but deeper into this crowd. this is a crowd of a couple 100 strong. we do see some counter protesters, some protesters who are out here kneeling and praying over here. and certainly some other protesters talking to them, i think overall things have been respectful here. i did
for the juneteenth holiholiday, the biden administration and officials around it are not taking the weekend off. yesterday, i spoke with energy secretary jennifer granholm who projected optimism despite economic challenges. the president is really focused on preventing these inflationary increases to the extent he can, inflation is happening globally, recession is in the inevitable, the president really wants to have a steady and stable recovery. but, of course, one of the biggest pieces of these infla inflationary increases we re seeing is the price of fuel. the growing number of experts disagree with that assessment. 44% of economists surveyed by the wall street journal now believe a recession is likely within the next 12 months. that is as the federal reserve raises interest rates, a move that should cool inflation at the risk of also hurting economic growth. among the top concerns when it comes to inflation, those record high gas prices. the white house says it is l
