$200 M Amazon fulfillment center announced


SHREVEPORT, La. - It s finally official. Amazon is constructing a multi-million dollar fulfillment center in Shreveport. 
Gov. John Bel Edwards said Amazon is building a $200 million major robotics fulfilment center, bringing with it 1,000 direct jobs, an estimated 1,118 indirect jobs and about 800 construction jobs. 
That s almost 3,000 jobs related to the project, which Edwards calls tremendous.

“This new Amazon project is a major advancement for the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area and for Louisiana’s economy,” Edwards said. “In addition to providing strong benefits, Amazon will pay workers double the minimum wage or more in a state-of-the-art technology environment. SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - An Amazon robotics fulfillment center will be built in Shreveport, Governor John Bel Edwards announced Friday, May 7 at a news conference.
Construction on the $200 million facility will start in the fall of 2021 and is expected to be complete by September of 2022. The center will bring about 800 construction jobs and 1,000 full-time jobs with benefits to the city. Starting pay for these full-time jobs is $15 per hour. ....

SHREVEPORT, La., May 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/  Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards and Amazon announced the company s first robotics fulfillment center in Louisiana, with over 1,000 jobs and a $200 million capital investment coming to an LED Certified Site in north Shreveport. Located in the Hunter Industrial Park, the site is near Interstates 20, 49 and 220 and provides ideal access for Amazon s logistics operations.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) plans to open its first robotics fulfillment center in the state of Louisiana. The new operations facility in Shreveport will create over 1,000 new, full-time jobs and provide employees with at least $15 per hour and comprehensive benefits. Amazon jobs support Louisiana communities of all sizes, from larger metro areas like Shreveport to smaller communities like Carencro.
