So chances of conflict are much higher between bicyclists, pedestrians, and cars, all competing on these narrow streets. Keep in mind, most of the daytime population is concentrated in the downtown area. Thats also where many of the fatalities occur. In 2014, the city launched vision zero to reduce fatalities. Since then, city workers added more protective bike lanes. Constructed street calms measures and updated Traffic Signals to give pedestrians more time and a head start in the crosswalk. But critics say without drastic measures they wont be able to cut pedestrian fatalities down to zero any time soon. Walk sf is a nonprofit that advocates for pedestrian safety. This played out about two hours ago on the 100 block of east pastor ya street in East Germantown which is where we find fox 29s Dave Schratwieser live at a very active crime scene. Dave . Reporter lucy, this crime scene has been in place for well over two hours at this point we know that at least four shots were fired up and down the 100 block of east pastor ya street. Active crime scene homicide detectives out here with the crime scene unit. Shell casings right here at the 100 block of east pastor ya street they stretch all weight down to the block where there are seven or eight more at the other end of the block.
