Thats according to the countrys interior ministry. The 6. 8 magnitude quake struck in the early hours of saturday morning, localtime. Vision from marrakesh the closest major city to the epicentre shows crowds gathering outside, damaged buildings and piles of rubble lining streets. The quake s epicentre was in a remote area of the high Atlas Mountains, and tremors were also reportedly felt in the capital, rabat, some 350km away, as well as casablanca and essaouira.
