Trussville Council honors Girl Scout for efforts against distracted driving

By Erica Thomas, managing editor TRUSSVILLE July 13, 2021, is Alex Rudick Day. The Trussville City Council made the proclamation during its regular meeting on Tuesday. National Gold Star Girl Scout Alex Rudick was honored during July 13, 2021, Trussville City Council meeting. Rudick was honored for her efforts in gaining a National Gold Award for her project as a Girl Scout. Alex Rudick is an ambassador for Girl Scout Troup 872. For her Gold Award project, Rudick was inspired by her cousin, Jessica Butler, of Moody, who was killed in a crash in 2017. Rudick has made videos, created a website, talked with lawmakers about creating a hands-free law for the state of Alabama and consulted with the CEO of StopDistractions.org. Her videos have also been made available to Driver’s Education instructors statewide.

Trussville changes public records request policy, mayor announces new voting precincts

By Erica Thomas, managing editor TRUSSVILLE The Trussville City Council met for a short regular meeting on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Councilor Perry Cook was not in attendance for the meeting. The council approved changes to the city’s public records request policy. The changes will add charges to some document requests in order to offset the costs of the time and preparation of such requests. “This actually brings us more in line really with the city of Hoover,” Councilor Jaime Anderson said. The changes add a charge of $50 for digitally standard zoning certification letters, $100 for detailed certification zoning letters, including open building and/or zoning code violations, $200 for complex certification zoning letters, including open building and/or zoning code violations, approved site plans, variances, ordinances, resolutions, special permits, conditional and/or special use permits, zoning cases, certificate of occupancy road project plans. Trussville City Council approves facility agreement with TCS

By Erica Thomas, managing editor TRUSSVILLE The Trussville City Council approved a revised version of an agreement with Trussville City Schools concerning the use of properties between the two entities. During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, the council unanimously approved the Reciprocal Use Agreement with TCS. In the agreement, the City and TCS agree to “memorialize their longstanding informal reciprocal use agreement in writing to facilitate better understanding of each party’s role in the continued relationship between the parties and to organize, to promote, and to conduct programs and activities that further the education, health and general welfare of the community.”
