The Carroll City Council will be convening for the second time this week tonight (Wednesday) at 5:15 p.m. for a Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget work session. The meeting will be closed to in-person attendance, but can be viewed live on the city’s YouTube channel, a link to which is included below, or on local access CAAT6 cable channels. Since the council is reviewing the budget, there will be no public participation, it will be presented as a “view only” option. During their first two work sessions, council members identified three specific areas requiring changes that will be discussed tonight. This includes a line-item error in the Carroll Airport General Fund that should have been $500 instead of $1,500. The council will discuss the allocation of $260,000 from Local Option Sales Tax (L.O.S.T.), as was done in FY21, for the Carroll Rec Center building project design services and another allocation from L.O.S.T. of $7,500 for the Timberline Road sidewalk design services. The Carroll City Council will be convening for a special Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget workshop at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18. This is the first of four scheduled workshops and will focus in on General Obligation (GO) bonding options for street improvements and the proposed updates and expansion at the Carroll Rec Center as well as the Police Department budget for the coming year. Council members will also be reviewing requests for funding support from outside agencies, currently at more than $168,600. This includes requests from the Region XII taxi program, the Carroll Area Child Care Center and preschool, Community of Concern Food Pantry, New Opportunities, the Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) and more. There is also a breakdown of the general fund operating budget of $226,000 from the Carroll Airport Commission along with their capital requests.
