Cincinnati Coffee Festival Supporting Independent Coffee and Fighting Food Insecurity

Organizers of the Cincinnati Coffee Festival have teamed up with local coffee purveyors for a seasonal benefit to improve local water quality and help address local food insecurity.
The fundraiser, called Fill the Cup, comes in lieu of the annual in-person coffee festival, which was lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year. That festival is produced by, and is a major fundraiser for, the Ohio River Foundation. It also promotes local coffee shops and appreciation for specialty coffee at large.
Running through the month of December with requested donations of $20, the Fill the Cup drive is also benefitting Cincinnati’s Freestore Foodbank. ....

Cincinnati Coffee Festival Fundraiser Aims to Fight Hunger and Increase Water Quality

Earlier this month, the Cincinnati Coffee Festival launched its “Fill the Cup” fundraiser to help fight food insecurity and protect drinking water. Throughout December, participants can make a $20 donation through the festival’s website and receive discounts and specials at local coffee shops by showing proof of your donation.

The fundraiser comes after the cancellation of the 2020 festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced earlier in the fall. The event typically raises around $50,000 for Ohio River Foundation’s (ORF) efforts to preserve and improve the river’s water. “We know how hard it’s been for nonprofits to raise money this year,” says Emily Carabello, vice president of Carabello Coffee, one of the participating coffee shops. “With the Cincinnati Coffee Festival cancelled this year, we knew that they were losing their big fundraiser.
