Lead researcher Valerie Sotardi, of UC, said teenagers were far less likely to seek professional help, in the form of a service like counselling, than approach family and friends, but they were still reluctant to do the latter. The findings were based on a questionnaire of 1600 people aged 13 to 19 in Canterbury and Auckland conducted in late 2018. The young people were asked to grade their likelihood of seeking professional help from one to seven, with seven being extremely likely to seek help. ....
