CSU launches air travel offset in step for climate neutrality

The next step in Colorado State University meeting its climate neutrality goal of 2040 is an air travel offset program that begins Feb. 1. Completing an initiative that began in 2017 by the President’s Sustainability Commission, CSU will assess a $10 offset fee for domestic air travel trips and $20 for international air travel trips on university business. ....

Monica Mendez is the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce’s new talent development manager. She is responsible for overseeing Leading Edge, Leadership Advantage, and expanding upon ATHENA Grand Rapids programming, as well as providing support to chamber members. An immigrant from Mexico, Mendez came to the United States 20 years ago. She spent the first 15 years of her career as a business professional in a variety of different sales roles, but the magna cum laude graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in International Business said she always felt drawn to other causes related to creating positive change within the community. ....

The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) announced today that a Solar Project Collaboration by four Pennsylvania institutions Muhlenberg College, Dickinson College, Lafayette College and Lehigh University is a 2020 AASHE Sustainability Award winner.
AASHE’s annual Sustainability Awards recognize outstanding achievements and progress toward environmental, social and economic health. The organization bestows its prestigious awards on the institutions and individuals that are leading higher education to a sustainable future.
