Gov. Gavin Newsomannounced that anyone living in Quartile 1 or 2 of the Healthy Places Index could get a vaccine, regardless of age or occupation, at the provider s discretion. That includes family members accompanying people to a vaccine appointment, as supply allows. Use the lookup tools and read our original story below to see if you live in the lower two quartiles.
California announced 40% of its coronavirus vaccine supply will be allocated for ZIP codes deemed most vulnerable to the pandemic.
The doses will be spread out among 400 ZIP codes with about 8 million people eligible for shots, said Dr. Mark Ghaly, the state s health and human services secretary. The areas are considered most vulnerable based on metrics such as household income, education level, housing status and access to transportation. All those factors combined determine a ZIP code s score on the Healthy Places Index, or its Vaccine Equity Metric. ....

We feel we are not yet done with phase 1A, so we don t want to move on until we ve really addressed that to the best of our ability as a community, said Dr. Anand Chabra, the section chief for mass vaccination in San Mateo County.
Contra Costa and Santa Clara County both announced that they will allow anyone age 75 and older to get the vaccine.
