This area of Southern California has been hit by backtoback natural disasters. Just weeks after wildfires stripped the land of natural barriers, heavy rain touched off massive mudslides that are now blamed for at least 17 deaths. More than two dozen others have been hurt. Some are still unaccounted for. Rescue teams are searching the mud for victims who didnt or couldnt evacuate. Hundreds have been regulation cued. At least 100 homes have been wiped away, 1500 more are in danger. The best way to understand the scope of the disaster is to walk among these once magnificent homes for the scope and to fly above the devastation as we did earlier today.
