This was the scene earlier this morning, lovely blue skies here, plenty of sunshine and the heat really building across england and wales at the moment. showers across scotland, drifting north, but at lunchtime and this afternoon, the show was really stop to get going across parts of wales, the midlands, and through southern parts of england some torrential downpours, lightning and thunder. maximum temperature is 23 30 c once again in the south east of england. heading into this evening, the showers will be torrential. look at the bright colours there, the greens. heavy downpours, hail, gusty winds, and the risk of localised flooding with those showers. they will drift west before further heavy showers move into parts of the west country, south wales, northern areas of devon and cornwall overnight tonight. and it could well be a fairly uncomfortable night for sleeping, temperatures

Draw up a list of some of the toughest policy nuts that any government needs to crack and you probably put pretty near the top rough sleeping. you might add anti social behaviour, troubled families, maybe child sexual exploitation. victims rights and last but certainly not least, the culture and standards of the police. that list is a short summary of the jobs done by my guest this week on political thinking. she has done those jobs for five different prime ministers, both main political parties over the last quarter of a century or so. baroness casey of blackstock, dame louise casey, is arguably one of the most influential non politicians in politics today. thank you forjoining me on political thinking. thank you very much, it is delightful to be here. as i read out the list ofjobs you have done for prime ministers

No lower than 15 17 c. sleeping, temperatures no lower than 11 17 c. we start the new working week on a rather warm note, lots of blue skies and sunshine again. the last of the rain clears away from the south west of wales. in the afternoon, heavy and thundery showers once again developing, mainly across the central areas. maximum temperatures remain on the high side, about 23 27 c, not quite as hot in the south east compared to today, temperatures remaining in the high 20s. focusing on showers for the monday evening rush hour, torrential rain and tricky conditions across parts of the midlands, those thunderstorms moving north into greater manchester, merseyside and north wales during the evening. high pressure dominates through the next week. there will be one or two showers, particularly on monday, but it will get drier as we go through the week, and we keep that east or south easterly wind.
