A Special Investigating Unit investigation has revealed that the National Students Financial Aid Scheme incorrectly funded 3,842 Eastern Cape students by a whopping R597.8m between 2018 and 2021.Of the 12 universities and TVET colleges in the province, Walter Sisulu University was cited as one of the institutions with the largest number of undue beneficiaries.
The rural Mnquma municipality this week started with construction of posh new offices which will cost about R200m. After years of renting private property or using a community hall, the municipality is hoping that in two years’ time it will they will finally have a state-of-the-art office park.
