County approves plats for 55 new Salado area homes


BELTON — Despite ongoing concerns regarding drainage, 55 new homes were approved by the county this week east of Salado.
The homes, part of the Armstrong Estates Phase 2 subdivision, are on a 55.2 acre tract just south of FM 2268. Commissioners unanimously approved the final plat for the subdivision, which is located south of its first phase approved in May.
One of the main concerns of the county has been the number flag lots — parcels with long driveways that make them look like flags — that are a part of the subdivision.
Commissioner Bobby Whitson said that while there is nothing in the subdivision that would have caused commissioners to deny the plat, he knows it will most likely cause the county problems. ....

Commissioners approve final plat for 39 Salado area homes


BELTON — Construction of more than three dozen new homes east of Salado have been green lit, following the approval of the final plat by county officials.
The Bell County Commissioners Court unanimously decided Monday morning to approve the final plat for phase nine of the Mill Creek Springs subdivision. The subdivision includes a more than 25 acre tract with 39 lots on it.
County Engineer Bryan Neaves said the subdivision includes about half of a mile worth of new roads that will be dedicated to the county.
“The plat shows that they have dedicated right of way on these new roads to be accepted as county roads,” Neaves said. “They have been built to the county standards or better.” ....

21-acre Temple area subdivision approved by commissioners


BELTON — A new subdivision straddling the Bell County and Temple line is now cleared for further construction.
The Landing at Heritage Oaks — located south of Temple both inside and outside city limits — was unanimously approved by the Bell County Commissioners Court for its final plat Monday in a 5-0 decision. The 28-lot subdivision is 21.33 acres and will consist of single family homes, with six lots wholly or partially in Temple city limits.
The subdivision is on the southern side of FM 93, half a mile to the east of Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church, 2497 W. FM 93.
Precinct 1 Commissioner Russell Schneider, who represents a portion of the subdivision, voiced concern along with other commissioners about the site’s drainage. ....
