Georgia teachers to be next in line in state for coronavirus vaccine


“Throughout vaccine distribution, the governor has prioritized protecting the most vulnerable and returning Georgians to normal,” Mallory Blount said Wednesday, according to The Associated Press. “Further details will be announced tomorrow.”

ELBERTON, Georgia A small Georgia city was still in shock Friday, days after state health workers raided the busiest medical clinic in the county and seized its Covid-19 vaccine supply because staffers had given doses to teachers.
Some 470 shots of the Pfizer vaccine were confiscated from the Medical Center of Elberton, a private clinic that had been the largest provider of vaccinations in Elbert County, leaving behind just enough medicine to guarantee second doses to people who have already been inoculated. ....

Georgia Medical Facility Loses Appeal After Vaccinating Teachers Over Others

The Medical Center of Elberton in Georgia reportedly lost its appeal to administer COVID-19 vaccines as the state s department of health issued a suspension.
The move followed the medical center s decision to vaccinate teachers who have to return to in-person learning, even though it went against state guidelines.
Brooke McDowell, the medical center s practice administrator, told local Georgia television station WSB-TV on Friday that they plan to appeal.
However, the medical center s appeal was denied and a six-month suspension from new vaccines will be enforced until July 27, according to the news outlet. ....
