In an incredible state championship contest on the campus of UMass Amherst, No. 4 seed Burlington defeated the No. 3 Tewksbury Redmen, 10-9, in eight innings to capture the Division 2 title, the first in program history.
After scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Tewksbury High softball team rode solid pitching and defense to a 3-2 win over Somerset-Berkley Regional in the Div. 2 state semifinals on Thursday night at Worcester State.
Tewksbury High junior shortstop Harris has compiled a .379 batting average with 28 hits, 18 RBI and 11 steals. She's helped lead the Redmen back to the state semifinals.
Sam Ryan fanned 13 batters and the Redmen totaled 15 hits as No. 3 Tewksbury (18-5) is dancing to the Division 2 state semifinals following its 13-0 blanking of No. 11 Bedford (16-5) at Hazel Field.
