GLOVERSVILLE – Members of the Common Council are consulting the city’s labor attorney Bryan Goldberger on the crafting of a “No Confidence” resolution for 2020 Republican mayoral candidate and current city Councilman-at-large William Rowback Jr.
Council members Monday, however, said they doubt the resolution will be ready for Tuesday night’s council meeting.
“I’m 99.99 percent sure it won’t happen, because we’re dealing with a lot of things and this one has been pushed out for a couple of weeks,” said Marcia Weiss, 1st Ward councilwoman.
Second Ward Councilman Arthur Simonds, a Republican, called for the “No Confidence” vote concerning Rowback during the council’s July 13 meeting after Rowback told the council he did not intend to follow any of the recommendations from the Special Investigation Committee formed in January to probe allegations that he had ....

GLOVERSVILLE The Common Council on Wednesday night voted 5-2 to adopt the conclusions of the Special Investigation Committee report on the conduct of Councilman-at-large William Rowback Jr. including that he exceeded his authority in threatening to fire city employees, exposed the city to potential lawsuits and was “untruthful” to the committee when giving testimony under oath.
The report states that it is the committee’s “opinion that Rowback’s responses were untruthful and that the information provided by the other witnesses was credible.”
Although the report is based on sworn testimony, the investigation was not subject to the evidence standards of a criminal probe, and appears unlikely to result in criminal charges. ....
