Couple years ago when we were looking at the number of individuals who would meet the criteria for the release based on a terminal illness, we discovered that there were 200 inmates in the bureau of prisons. Once they were identified coming up to go further in making sure that for those individuals being considered, that they have the resources if they are given the opportunity and released under that program. 200 inmates agencywide with a population at times that was at 220,000 is a very small number. Senator we are talking about passionate release, early release, release of foreign nationals. Are you saying that the law or the regulation is written to restrictively and doesnt give you the latitude to utilize those programs more fully . Inspector general, i will be asking you the same question. Mr. Samuels we moved from apple to nonmedical. 9 everybody. Alongside sal and gasia, i am mike. It is the last day of june. Why not have it socked in there in San Francisco . Where does the time go . We are more than halfway through the year. Right. Were done. Lets go ahead and check weather. See if the fog is going to burn off as mike expects it to. He grew up here. He knows a thing or two about it. It looks like its burning off outside your window, if i am not mistaken. Thank you, mike, gasia, and sal. We have a pretty good fog bank. It is retreating a little sooner today. It will be cool to cold by the coast. It looks like a hot inland temperature forecast. Dont forget the fire danger extremely high right now. 12 fires in the state, and temperatures will be pretty hot today and tomorrow. It looks cooler though. That will help firefighters, i think, over the weekend as we see temperatures drop. The giantsas tonight mostly sunny. 63. There will be a westerly breeze. I would think similar to what we saw last night. The water temps
The day. We start with the search for answers in the Fatal Shooting of three Law Enforcement officers in baton rouge, louisiana. Three other officers were also wounded yesterday in that same incident. This happened less than a mile from police headquarters. Authorities have identified the gunman as gavin eugene long. He is a former marine who police say carried out the attack on his 29th birthday. He was later killed in a gunfight with police. The motive is still unclear, but investigators say they believe he acted alone. We believe that the person that shot and killed our officers, that he is a person that was shot and killed at the scene. So thats what we know right now. We do not believe or do we have any other shooter held up in any other area. Baton rouge police have identified two of the officers killed in the attack as Montrell Jackson and matthew gerald. The third is sheriffs deputy brad garafola. Officer jackson had just posted on facebook how philly physically and emotionally
Im going to resist the temptation to come to new and minimumwage debate. [laughter] please do. Im happy to have one offline after we are done but just to be responsive to the question about millennials, you know i think one very concrete tangible reality that many people in your age cohort are facing in student debt and i think we are ripe as a country for a cross party cross ideological conversation about how to reform our student debt system and its not simply a matter of using the terms of debt. Its also thinking about to what extent has the presence and expansion of loans contributed to the escalation of the cost of college. We have to have an honest crosscutting look at this but its got to be one that is led actually by those of you in the millennial generation whose citizens are experiencing the pain and i think if you can get an issue like that would be a tangible way to get started in the country. Lets get some more questions please. Good morning. My name is charles and im a te
