Edwards County Treasurer Debbie Smith says 2022 Mobile Home Taxes are due July 29th; a late fee of $25 will be added to any unpaid taxes on July 30th, and an additional $25 fee will be added every month the tax is delinquent. Payment will be accepted in Smith's office in the Edwards County Courthouse, by mail to 50 East Main Suite 11 in Albion, or in the drop box on the northeast corner of the courthouse. When using the drop box, people should be sure to include their name and phone number. Anyone with questions can call Smith's office at 445-3581. Illinois State Police District 19 Commander Captain Nathan Douglas has announced the ISP will conduct Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols in Wayne County next month. The patrols will allow the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. 40-year-old Ray E. Tate is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court this morning for a sentencing hearing. He pleaded not guilty in February to 38 counts related to the death of Wayne County Deputy Sean Riley. Last month, he pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder, and the remaining counts were dismissed. The maximum sentence for the offense is mandatory natural life in prison without parole. The Edwards County Board of Education met last night. It heard Baccalaureate will take place May 20th at 7 at ECHS, and graduations will take place May 21st. West Salem's will begin at 10 a.m., Albion's at 1 p.m., and the high school's at 4 p.m. In other action, the board approved a bid for concrete work at the West Salem Grade School parking lot at a cost of $245,320. Board members Jo Rector, Brian Mewes, and Andrew Spray voted no. The board also received a bid for asphalt for the parking lot at a cost of $243,930 but ultimately went with the bid for concrete.
