Slain female aid workers belonged to poor families in Bannu Peshawar February 26, 2021 BANNU: The four women, including two sisters, who were gunned down in North Waziristan on Monday worked for a non-governmental organisation to impart vocational training to needy women. The slain women belonged to poor families in Bannu district and were getting Rs1,000 only per day. They were hired by the Bravo College of Technology, Peshawar, which had made an arrangement with an NGO, Sabawoon, to impart sewing and embroidery skills to local women in North Waziristan. “The women worked for 16 days a month for the three-month project “Women Empowerment.” It was going to be completed on February 24 when the gory incident took place,” said a relative of the slain workers. ....

Martyred female trainers were imparting vocational training to women Peshawar February 23, 2021 MIRANSHAH/PESHAWAR: The four female trainers who were martyred in Mir Ali area in North Waziristan on Monday had gone from nearby Bannu district to impart vocational training to local women. One female worker remained safe as she was dropped off at the first vocational centre of the town.The female trainers ran workshops aimed at empowering fellow women in Mir Ali subdivision of the militancy-plagued North Waziristan tribal district. North Waziristan’s district police chief Shafiullah Gandapur said they were not informed about the visit of the female social workers to the area.“Had they informed us, we would have provided them security as North Waziristan had suffered from militancy in the past and it will take time for the situation to become normal,” he said. ....
MIRALI: In a brazen daylight attack, masked terrorists shot dead four women vocational trainers and injured their driver near Mirali in North Waziristan tribal district on Monday. Police said a vehicle carrying five women was driving through a village near Mirali when the gunmen opened fire on it, killing four of them on the spot. The slain trainers were identified as Naheed Bibi, Irshad Bibi, Ayesha Bibi and Javeria Bibi. They belonged to the nearby Bannu district. The driver of the vehicle, Abdul Khaliq, suffered bullet injuries in the attack. He is under treatment at a local hospital. District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur issued a press release after the killing of the four women trainers, stating that the four were targeted and killed by terrorists in Eppi village near Mirali. ....
