The more things change, the more they stay the same. Imagine Prince Edward County council’s surprise, a number of years ago, when informed by a professor from Virginia of the historical importance of the Crystal Palace at Picton fairgrounds. It was then one of only two such buildings in North America. With its windows boarded over and its exterior crying for paint, the Palace was a forgotten building, a relic of the past, used only at fair time. It was in a state of neglect. Suddenly, councillors learned it was of historical value, a rarity to be celebrated.
