Brenden Jackson, 18, will walk alongside the rest of his classmates at Tri County High School’s commencement ceremony Thursday, an achievement Jackson worked hard for after slacking off early in his school career. One day during 10th grade, Jackson, a resident of Howard City and the oldest of three siblings, was instructed to head to guidance counselor Wendy Kik's office instead of reporting to his first hour class.

On Tuesday, Montabella Athletic Director Derek Brown received notice from Lesa Lippert that she would be resigning from her position as varsity softball head coach, citing health reasons. Lippert was in the midst of her second season as head coach. Brown wasted no time in attempting to find a replacement head coach for the season and one of his first phone calls was to the person who finished runner-up in the interview process for the softball coaching opening last year.
