Two colors on the map. The pink is the excessive heat. The difference is important. That only applies over here, pleasanton, san jose this is where the heat is more serious. This is 108. We talk about extremes. The excessive heat use a significant rest of heat related illnesses of you are not in the air conditioning and hydrating. This is the heat advisory in the day. We have heavy downpours, breezy to gusty winds and this morning the rain is coming down from the north bay through the Santa Cruz Mountains. We do have breaks in our inland valleys but there is a chance of thunderstorms. As we look at live doppler 7 you will notice we have wet weather from the santa cruz area up through saratoga and sunnyvale, but as we go into the east bay its been light around martinez and richmond, 580, walnut creek a few light showers, dillon beach into marin, a lot of people live around hayward, fremont, san matteo not seeing any rain there. As we widen the view you can see the steady stream of moisture that wants to push up south of San Francisco bringing that showery regime with it, the high wind warning along the coast. The Weather Service is warning that travel could be in their words difficult to impossible. Theyre working to clear the roads this morning. Chains are required here and on highway 50 except on vehicles with fourwheel drive and snow tires. There could be two feet or more on higher mountain peaks. Mud creek on highway 1 in the big sur area will be closed due to concerns about mudslides in this weekends storm. It closed a few minutes ago, 9 00 was the time it was scheduled to close. The slide closed last night at 5 00. The stretch of roadway is in the southern part of monterey county. Both sides where seen slides in the past. The bay area isnt the only place seeing rough weather. Parts of the San Bernardino mountains are buried in snow. The community of Running Springs saw several feet and roads are closed off to only local residents. Many of them are getting around on foot. The storm also knocked out power to tens of thousands of people, some of them who said they got back after a very c

Now are a little bit more calm than what we were about an hour and a halving a. Im standing right in front of an apartment complex where im told four buildings went up in flai flames. Well go ahead and show you some of the viewer video that we got into the fox 10 newsroom. We are told that the fire started just after 7 . Than a hundred firefighters, it took more than a hundred of them to get those flames down. And im told that two buildings were evacuated that are adjacent to the four buildings that caught on fire, so about 2530 people were forced out of their homes. We spoke to the battalion chief just a little while ago. He says that this is really just an unfortunate situation for everyone who lives in this area. Citizens in the area. Its obviously very damaging to them. In downtown, a very vibrant district right here. We have shut down downtown gilbert road for folks in every direction.
