The fifth victim of the Tsarnaev brothers Boston Marathon killing spree died on this day seven years ago from the wounds he suffered fighting the two terrorists.
Boston police Sgt. Dennis “DJ” Simmonds was one of the first officers on the scene just after midnight on April 19, 2013, as Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev tossed bombs out of the car they stole.

Boston’s newest police commissioner, sworn in only days ago, was placed on leave Wednesday night after allegations of domestic violence from the 1990s surfaced.
The Boston Globe first reported that Mayor Marty Walsh had placed Commissioner Dennis White on leave and would be launching an investigation into accusations that White in 1999 pushed and threatened to shoot his wife at the time, who was also a police officer in the city. ....
