Rapper Master P and former NBA player Baron Davis are in talks to buy shoe company Reebok for some $2.4 billion.
Adidas bought Boston-based Reebok for $3.8 billion in 2005, but after struggling to turn the brand around investors repeatedly called for the company to dispose of the brand.

Master P confirmed the news to
ESPN reporter Eric Woodyard, telling him: “These companies have been benefiting off us, this could be history for this company going black-owned.” ....

Adidas Mulling Potential Sale Of Reebok
German sportswear giant Adidas said Monday it was mulling a sale of its long-struggling US subsidiary Reebok.
Adidas has begun to assess strategic alternatives for Reebok, the company said in a statement, adding these include both a potential sale of Reebok as well as Reebok remaining a part of the company .
A decision will be announced on March 10, it added, when the group will present a new five-year strategy.
Adidas acquired Boston-based Reebok in 2006 for 3.1 billion euros ($3.8 billion) to take on US rival Nike. But the brand has struggled to grow under its German owner, frequently fuelling speculation of a sale. ....

PTC to acquire California company
PTC, the Boston-based design and engineering software firm, has reached a deal to acquire Arena Solutions for $715 million, making it the largest acquisition in PTC’s history. Arena specializes in what’s known as product lifecycle management software, which helps users manage a product’s evolution from design and manufacturing to servicing and disposal. Arena is primarily a software-as-a-service company, meaning its revenue comes from subscriptions sold to clients. Foster City, Calif.-based Arena has about 160 employees and about $50 million in annual revenue, making it much smaller than PTC, with its 6,200-person workforce. Before this deal, PTC’s largest acquisition was its $470 million purchase about one year ago of design software firm OnShape. — JON CHESTO ....
