Challenging the boundaries of language and time, Boris Dralyuk is using poetry to merge the past and present. The alumnus will be featured in the Hammer Museum’s Poetry Series on Thursday.
The United States Board on Books for Young People has created a list of outstanding books from around the world in 2024. Two Ukrainian publications were included in the list: Yellow Butterfly by Oleksandr Shatokhin and Who Will Make the Snow? by Marjana Prokhasko and Taras Prokhasko.
Ukraine’s authors should have been able to dedicate their lives to honing their craft. Instead, many of them have stepped up to contribute to the war effort and fight back against Russian aggression. Like any other member of society, Ukrainian authors have lost loved ones and colleagues to Russia’s war, with the understanding that they could be next.
