101 Women offering $10,000 grant

A local funding organization, 101 Women Sandpoint, is once again offering a $10,000 grant as part of its bi-annual giving campaign.

Bonner County non-profit organizations that focus on basic human needs and/or social services are encouraged to apply for the grant. The simple grant application is available online opening on March 1, and the deadline for submission is April 15. ....

The annual Polar Bear Plunge is held Jan. 1 as a cooperative event by Boy Scout Troop 111 and the city of Sandpoint’s Parks & Recreation Department.

Staffing, labor prompt BTAA changes

Like many small businesses and nonprofits in the region, Better Together Animal Alliance recently announced a change in hours due in part to staffing challenges.

“With fewer applicants for positions, and team members leaving the area, we’ve made the decision to transition away from being open to the public seven days a week,” Mandy Evans, BTAA executive director, said. “We know that labor challenges in our region aren’t going away in the near future and we need to ensure the staff we do retain aren’t stretched too thin.” ....
