Prestwich Clough A LEAKING sewage pipe which is polluting an ancient woodland in Prestwich could take several weeks to repair say United Utilities. Residents close to The Clough have reported sewage seeping out of the pipe and threatening the ecology of the much-loved beauty spot. Prestwich Clough was designated a Site of Biological Importance in 1981 in recognition of its contribution to the wildlife heritage of Greater Manchester. The Clough, as it is known locally, was opened as a park in 1906. In its heyday it boasted a bandstand and tea rooms and an extensive network of footpaths. A spokesperson for United Utilities, which is responsible for the pipe, said: “We have been investigating this issue and our engineers have identified where the sewer is damaged. ....
