Absolutely proud we are to join with pro mundo and new America Foundation to host this discussion, men in the me too movement, moving from silence to solidarity and how do we do that . I think all of us in this room would agree that we are in the middle of something pretty darn historic. But just how historic i think remains to be seen. This could be the beginning of the end of a culture of silence, of fear, of complacency. This could be the beginning of the end of violence against women, one of the most destructive and universal challenges we face. I think its too early to see where this momentum right now with the me too movement is going to lead, but the one thing we do know is that were going to make sure more womens voices are heard and more womens rights are protected, absolutely. You know, when vital voices was started 21 years ago, we didnt have the allies or the awareness that we have today. Today we have stronger laws and louder advocates. They say shell be back on the campaign trail thursday, when shes expected to address the hispanic caucus gala on thursday and another event friday in d. C. They do caution she is recovering so it is possible they reserve the right to change those plans. Thats the goal and she really wants to get back out into the game. Today a day of her surrogates. President obama out on the campaign trail as well as former president bill clinton. Hell be out west at fundraisers for her and her Vice President ial nominee, tim kaine. He is campaigning and really pushing back on the criticism theyre getting for that comment she made, that half of donald Trump Supporters are deplorables. She has, walked back the fact. She said half of his supporters are deplorables. The Campaign Standing by the fact he is giving new energy to voters who are bigoted and to subscribed to this divisive rhetoric.
