bit differently this time. we ll start with pat, pat, good morning. i m curious to know in your institution in burglar, and all institutions across the country, the ratio of people in the classrooms to other employees, by administrators, researchers, whatever. and how that has changed over time and what percentage of the tuition costs will be paid. actually it s to pay the salary of nonteaching employees of the university. so the university of michigan has about 3,000 full-time tenure scre stream faculty that teach our students. we have clinical faculty that help train future physicians and residents and interns in our hospitals. we probably have on the order of 2,000 or so of teaching faculty. the total number of employees of the university is approaching 40,000. we have a very large health care system, we re a major provider of health health care in the state. if you put aside the health care system, we probably have two or three fold the number of employees providing all t

teacher tenure that they only have to show up? i should admit that was bad language and it was not actually about them. you have a time in which it becomes very important and it is treated differently. i shouldn t have said it and i apologize for saying that. let s go back to the reference to governor wells. what we are doing under my administration is what massachusetts did in the 1990 s under that administration. the same thing. access to prekindergarten, smaller classroom size. extended days when applicable. schools closer to where the kids are living. holding people accountable. not just teachers. at ministry was, kids, and parents. the point out governor wells success for something he started in the 90 s and say massachusetts is making progress, you re absolutely right. it has been done over time. there is this other thing that tom sometimes uses when he describes educational reform. he says i am education reform light. he wants to bring in other systems that he hasn t
the unions, and republicans being opposed to many of their initiatives? it would seem like they may be making a mistake giving exclusively to democrats. if they give contributions to republicans as well, it would weaken the republican position on moving on something like minimum wage. they said we are going to contribute to a handful of republicans because we think they could be the most open to working with democrats, and break some of the logjam we ve seen in congress. it might help their effort in generating some goodwill here in washington. and moving on some of their top priorities. can we speculate that this is since 2012,percent can we see more sense before election day? it seems to be working for them. they seem to be happy with it. atms to be at list least making people talk about the minimum wage increase. it makes for great visuals, it has the potential to expand their membership. i m sure we will see more. thanks for both of you being here this week.
