State-level painting competition on energy conservation held in Kohima

Our CorrespondentKohima, Nov 14 (EMN): A state-level painting competition on energy conservation under National Campaign on Energy Conservation 2022 of the Ministry of Power, Government of India was held on Monday at Hotel De Oriental Grand in Kohima. Principal Director of School Education, Thavaseelan K, who attended the closing ceremony as chief guest, said such competitions will help the children boost their self-confidence and also spur them to take art as a career, while expounding on the potential and possibilities of taking art as a profession. Further, he also highlighted the importance of energy conservation, adding that unless people make concerted efforts towards conservation of energy, the human race would be looking at a bleak future. World No Tobacco Day: Curbing tobacco use reduces risk of fatal chronic diseases

Our Correspondent Kohima, May 31 (EMN): Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo on Tuesday stated that tobacco use in any form, including passive smoking, has negative effects on health. Theyo was speaking on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day organised by District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Kohima at Paramedical Training Institute (PMTI), Kohima. She said that curbing tobacco use will not only prevent fatal chronic diseases like cancer but also help the world inch closer to sustainable development goals (SDGs). She also highlighted this year’s theme “Poisoning our planet”, and added that it calls out policy makers to make tobacco producers (industries) accountable for environmental damage due to tobacco product waste. Nagaland observes 'World No Tobacco Day' to eradicate chronic diseases

EM Bureau Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): Nagaland observed the ‘World No Tobacco Day’ on May 31 by organising various awareness programmes and other competitions for the students on the theme ‘Tobacco: Threat to our environment.’ The ‘World No Tobacco Day’ is observed around the world every year on May 31 with an objective to inform the public on the dangers of using tobacco. ‘World No Tobacco Day’ is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked by the WHO, along with World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunisation Week, World Tuberculosis Day, World Malaria Day, World Hepatitis Day, World Chagas Disease Day, World Patient Safety Day, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week and World AIDS Day.
