Nagaland: ANPSA Kohima unit organises music contest

Our Correspondent Kohima, Aug 29 (EMN): The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit in collaboration with Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) organised a music contest at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on Aug. 27. Gracing the inaugural function advisor, TaFMA, Nagaland, Theja Meru, challenged the students to work hard to excel in their academic career while expressing that hard work is the key to success. 16 schools participated in double quartet, eight schools in guitar ensemble and 24 schools in solo competition. Need to relook education with changing times — Asano Sekhose

Our CorrespondentKohima, Aug. 13 (EMN): Chairman of Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Asano Sekhose on Saturday said with changing times and knowledge easily available in all platforms, there is a need to relook education instead of detecting things for students to learn. She was addressing the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Kohima Unit inter-school quiz and extempore competition held at St Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School (SMCHSS), Lerie Kohima as special guest. Sekhose emphasised that platform and room should be given to the students to experience their skills and discovery based on teaching methods. She pointed out that the quest for learning will always remain, adding that education is no more about content knowledge but about understanding with creativity and problem-solving, and development of communication skills. World No Tobacco Day: Curbing tobacco use reduces risk of fatal chronic diseases

Our Correspondent Kohima, May 31 (EMN): Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo on Tuesday stated that tobacco use in any form, including passive smoking, has negative effects on health. Theyo was speaking on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day organised by District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Kohima at Paramedical Training Institute (PMTI), Kohima. She said that curbing tobacco use will not only prevent fatal chronic diseases like cancer but also help the world inch closer to sustainable development goals (SDGs). She also highlighted this year’s theme “Poisoning our planet”, and added that it calls out policy makers to make tobacco producers (industries) accountable for environmental damage due to tobacco product waste.
