BISMARCK At the beginning of April, North Dakota experienced one of its most poignant wildfire scares in years: A drought-fueled grass fire burned more than 2,000 acres in the Badlands and reached within a mile of the Old West tourist town of Medora.

CARPIO, N.D. The small town of Carpio in north-central North Dakota was evacuated on Friday afternoon, April 30, due to the threat of a grass fire.
Despite high winds and dry conditions, emergency crews managed to put out the fire within a few hours of when they were first dispatched, according to Burlington Fire Chief Karter Lesmann.

Noah Cole Grimm, 19, was sentenced on Thursday to 360 days in the Ward County Jail, all suspended but 30 days, and 360 days supervised probation for physically assaulting and tasing a 17-year-old boy at the Berthold Cenex on May 21, 2020. The C felony will appear as a Class A misdemeanor on his record if he successfully completes probation.
Judge Gary Lee ordered Grimm to pay restitution of $1,136.90, court costs, and to have no contact with the victim.
Grimm had also been charged in Berthold Municipal Court with Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief, Class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and Class B misdemeanor hindering law enforcement. All of those charges will be dismissed under the terms of a plea deal.

Abraham Carrillo, 29, Minot, is charged in district court in Minot with two counts of Class C felony possession of child pornography, Class C felony luring a minor by computer, and Class C felony dissemination of obscene material.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Carrillo exchanged sexually explicit messages with someone he believed to be a 16-year-old. It was actually with a fake social media profile set up by the Berthold Police Department. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted and an agent interviewed Carrillo, who consented to a search of his electronics. The search turned up child pornography on his cell phone, which had been shared in a KIK app group chat.
