Freshmen students at Santa Maria High School arrived on campus Tuesday
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - More students in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District returned to the classroom Tuesday with only a few weeks left in the school year.
Freshmen at Santa Maria High School were given the red-carpet, welcome-back treatment from faculty and staff.
All of the high schools in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District are in the same reopening mode. Even if its five weeks of experience on campus, that means next fall we ll be that much more ready to hit the ground running when we come back in full swing, said Steve Campbell, Santa Maria High School s principal.

Abraham Carrillo, 29, Minot, is charged in district court in Minot with two counts of Class C felony possession of child pornography, Class C felony luring a minor by computer, and Class C felony dissemination of obscene material.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Carrillo exchanged sexually explicit messages with someone he believed to be a 16-year-old. It was actually with a fake social media profile set up by the Berthold Police Department. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted and an agent interviewed Carrillo, who consented to a search of his electronics. The search turned up child pornography on his cell phone, which had been shared in a KIK app group chat.

Tori Tori serves some of the best sushi in town. But locals love the Japanese restaurants as much for their environments as the food. Hometown icon Héctor Esrawe has designed four of them, each with its own distinct vibe. One branch is covered in a web of steel lattice; another resembles a brutalist cave. Esrawe’s latest is at the foot of an office tower in the city’s Santa Fe district, and is inspired by Japanese craftsmanship. “I admire its rigor,” he states. “Japanese artisans take pride in their heritage but can also translate it into new visual expressions.” At the 120-seat eatery, Esrawe built two illuminated white-oak sculptures that evoke the plates found on samurai armor.
