where kids will return to class today. good morning, bob. reporter: good morning to you, kris. we are talking about trace elementary school. just over a month ago a devastating fire here destroyed 16 classrooms and the library. the school district, the san jose unified school district then at that time made a pledge and vowed to have trace open in time for the first day of school which is today. by all appearances, the district kept its promise. students will be returning to a much different-looking campus. the district had to bring in 20 portable classrooms. they set those up on a temporary campus located across the street because it will be some time before the building destroyed in the fire is rebuilt. the community has pitched in on that effort, having raised more than $100,000 to cover the district s insurance deductible. teachers have also received thousands of dollars of donations to replace supplies that were lost in the fire what is difficult for teachers, th ....
