LSCP to celebrate virtually | News, Sports, Jobs

MARQUETTE The Lake Superior Community Partnership will host its Annual Celebration virtually at 4 p.m. Thursday.
This event is the LSCP’s largest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds benefit economic development in Marquette County. During the celebration, they will also be honoring this year’s Distinguished Service Award winners. The individual recipient for 2021 is Scott Erbisch, Marquette County Administrator. Scott is very involved in many community groups and organizations. He currently serves as an LSCP Board Member, a United Way of Marquette County Board Member, is a Marquette County Ambassador and was recently appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Municipal Services Authority Board and Executive Committee. ....

Bundle UP MQT a commendable effort to keep residents warm | News, Sports, Jobs

Anna Dravland does it again. The woman behind Spread Goodness Day has spearheaded another successful charitable event called Bundle UP MQT.
New and used winter clothing items such as hats, scarves, jackets and mittens were donated by the public through Bennett Media Group in Marquette and ModelTots and Dis n’ Dat in Gwinn.
The items were placed on Saturday through Harlow Park in Marquette where anybody who needed them were welcome to take them with no questions asked.
Dravland estimated that 75% of the items were taken, with the leftovers to be donated to local nonprofits.
It’s been a fairly mild winter so far, but more cold weather and snow undoubtedly is on the way, so bundling up will be much easier now that more people have garb suited for Upper Peninsula weather. ....

MARQUETTE Individuals who took a stroll through Harlow Park in downtown Marquette on Saturday afternoon were greeted by an array of warm winter clothing.
Spread out across the park’s many paths, benches and playground structures, the clothes were placed throughout the park grounds as part of the “Bundle UP MQT” initiative, an effort spearheaded by Spread Goodness Day founder Anna Dravland to provide warm winter clothing for the community. ....
