Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the investigation into the alleged teachers' recruitment scam in Bengal. The summons was sent yesterday, the Trinamool leader's birthday.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee to appear before its officers on October 9 in connection with their probe into the alleged irregularities in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee said he has been summoned to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on October 3, "a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal's rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi".
On July 23 last year, Chatterjee was arrested by the ED in connection with the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam. During raids conducted by the ED, around Rs 50 crore were recovered from the two flats of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Chatterjee. The ED had alleged that they both were involved in recruitment scam.
